Song History
Never do I keep my word
Breaking it every day
I give you promises each time I pray
And every day they fade away
One day I repent,
Then the next I confess
That I've fallen again, oh Lord
back into sin

*Chorus*
Lord, I need your love
Lord, I need your love
Lord, I need your salvation;
Your saving grace
Give me the discipline I need
and let your love lead me

I break your heart each instance
And return each time, asking forgiveness
I'm sick of remorse,
I'm tired of the guilt
To you I cry out,
To you I ask how
Rip this burden from my life
And reveal the path, the walkway of light.

Lyrics Brandon Willey
Music Jeff Davis

Brandon debuted these words on another Wednesday night, and Jeff had been listening to Caedmon's Call's "April Showers." He thought RW could use a nice, soft song in the same manner, and wrote the music to this relaxing track. Since recording it for "Purify," Jeff now plays slaps and the lead riffs while Kt Lewis jams lazily on rhythm guitar. We also were fortunate enough play this song on a student news program on Mesa Public Schools channel 99. For several months around April and May 2001, the studio replayed the track over and over. Phil Davis (Jeff's younger brother) played the lead guitar for that, as that was in the Search for a 3rd era.

Lyric thoughts from Brandon This song was written in a spirtually trying period of my life. I was struggling with sin that I couldn't get a hold of. God has since delivered me, but this song remains a constant reminder of my human sinfullness and ability to fall into temptation at any time. I still love listening to and playing this song when I feel particularly challenged in any area of my life. I know that no day with God is a walk in the park, but that I can always rely on his love and strength to carry me through any sin that the serpeant throws my way.
